About this Event

The Talisman Specialty Agriculture Protected Cell program was developed because we saw distinct limitations of conventional cannabis insurance offerings. We saw the need for policy forms and underwriting practices that more accurately reflect how cannabis businesses operate. We saw the need for flexibility in cannabis insurance.

Talisman Casualty has the flexibility to design insurance packages that are individually tailored to the individual cannabis/hemp operations. Our captive is uniquely focused on supporting and strengthening the insurance and risk management needs of cannabis and hemp business owners and investors. 

This approach helps cannabis lenders protect their investments when lending to Cannabis and Hemp businesses, including new operators and those expanding and needing additional capital to finance growth. 

Our program knows that casualty and property insurance is a financial protection and stabilizer for cannabis and hemp operators, especially now with federal changes for hemp in flux. Our program smoothly adjusts to changes in each “legal” state’s regulations and statutes that affect cannabis and hemp businesses.

Who We Are

  • Talisman Specialty Agricultural Protected Cell, a wholly owned captive insurance program by Talisman Specialty Insurance Company, built specifically for cannabis and hemp operations. TSAPC is duly licensed and regulated by the State of Oklahoma Department of Insurance and provides insurance coverages in all “legal” states. We are 100% reinsured through Lloyd’s, London.

Using a captive is a more practical and increasingly popular way for a group of similar businesses to protect themselves financially while the program provides industry-specific insurance coverage.


Program Structure and Features

  • TSAPC provides commercial insurance coverages for cannabis/hemp operators, including dispensaries, processors, cultivation, testing labs, and wholesale distributors, offering comprehensive casualty and property coverages, but with policy wording specifically tailored for the industry and to the individual risk.
